Green trails and the towpath

50 miles of hiking trails along the river Mayenne

Totally redeveloped, the old towpath, once used to pull barges, has today become the premier trail along the Mayenne.

A 50 mile-long green swathe by the side of  the river provides the pretext for discovery of a natural heritage almost unique in France. Walkers, hikers and other nature lovers can explore the Mayenne, its history, heritage, wildlife, nature, canal locks and much more

Railways

The General Council of La Mayenne, after the restoration of the towpath, has started renovating the enormous number of old railway paths, converting them for walking.

These greenways can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, from Sain-Berthevin to Renazé (south), La Chapelle-Anthenaise to Ambrières (north), or Javron de Mayenne (north east) .
